KKCL is proud to have been welcoming English language students for more than 17 years.

We are accredited by the British Council and a  member of English UK and are committed to the highest standards of education and welfare.

Many schools offer workshops and standard English lessons, but very few can offer the integrated experience that we do through our unique project based Go Create! English syllabus, taught by dynamic and inspirational teachers.

This exciting programme of themed lessons covers different aspects of popular culture and has been designed to offer students the highest level of experiential learning.

How We Teach:

  • English is the only language used in the classroom at all times!
  • Throughout the course, Task Based & Project Based Teaching and Learning methodology is used to help students develop their 21st Century skills of Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking and Intercultural Competence
  • Teaching techniques to utilise multimedia and film adaptations of classic novels are used as scaffolding to help students engage with a literary text in a modern era of technology. There is a focus on understanding British Culture through literature as a mirror of society. Students explore alternative uses of written texts developing their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills
  • Each day, students work on a variety of tasks, building up to a bigger project at the end of the day to showcase students’ improved language skills and cultural understanding
  • Drama teaching techniques used during the lessons are aimed at increasing students’ confidence to help them become better communicators in English
  • Teacher guided peer and self-assessment is incorporated into the syllabus, with self-evaluation strategies used throughout the course to measure students’ progress, and to raise awareness about the importance of students’ taking control of their own learning

Cultural & Extra-Curricular Programme

We make every minute of the Go Create! English experience a teachable moment! There is a direct link between classroom based learning experience and places students visit during their stay.  Activity Leaders and Homestays Hosts are trained in basic teaching techniques to facilitate conversations with students so that every opportunity for learning is taken.

Visits to places of historic and cultural interest around London will broaden students’ knowledge of the UK, whilst giving them first hand experience of modern as well as historic ways of British life, which will complement their language learning and create memorable experiences to take back to their own country.

With Go Create! English students can have fun learning English and learn new skills too!

Exam Preparation for Groups

We prepare closed groups of students for Trinity, Language Cert, TELC and Cambridge exams as required. Generally, these exams will take place on the final day of school. We are a registered examination centre for Trinity, Language Cert and TELC.

We had the chance to compare our cultures, our methods of teaching and doing things

The excursions as well as menu were always submitted to the tutors opinion and approval. There was much concern about food, taking into consideration the students' needs, age and tastes. It is known that Italian young people are a little choosy about food, but the operators were able to satisfy them. These three weeks spent in London with Katherine and King's College staff has been constructive not only for the students but for the Filangieri tutors and the College staff as well because we had the chance to compare our cultures, our methods of teaching and doing things, and each of us has grown his experience. What we liked most has been the friendship, the high esteem and respect that has been established between us, which we think and hope will continue in the future.

Director and the teachers were competent

15 high school students arrived to London from Calabria (Italy) to take part in summer course. Since our arrival Catherine and King's College staff has been kind and willing to help us and made sure that our stay in London was comfortable. On October 27 the students began their English course which consisted of a placement test, four hour lessons from Monday, to Friday, for three weeks, with mother tongue English teachers, a final test and the achievement of a certificate (all the students have reached a 131 level as required by the project). The director and the teachers were competent and oruanized the didactic work very well. The lessons were interesting and the students approached the learning with interest and enthusiasm. The good relation established with the didactic staff has helped the students feel at home and improve their self-confidence. This relation has gone beyond pure work relationship. it has become friendship and this has made the students very happy, eager to attend classes and competitive with other groups of study. The project included excursions too. They were well planned and almost always with a guide who explained the students the importance of what they were seeing. If there was not a guide the teachers gave them some written hints or tasks to attract the students' attention and interest. The places they visited were well selected and have contributed to widen the students' general culture, such as Oxford and Cambridge Universities, museums, the BBC.

They all hope it was not their last visit to KKCL

A group of our school children arrived to KKCL, it was a group of 43 children attending our primary school, aged 10 - 18, accompanied by four adults. Most of them visited London for the very first time. They have been accomodated in families that have been very helpful, even with driving the children to school and back. The children spent three days at the KKCL school, three hours a day. In their spare time the children had the opportunity to get to know London and it's surroundings. The KKCL school left nothing to chance and organized everything to the last detail, including the children's night arrival. The local teachers had an entertaining education methods and our children were delighted. They even enjoyed the canteen meals a lot. The children left London with unforgettable experiences and they all hope it was not their last visit to KKCL.

Whatever small problem cropped up, they were extremely quick to solve it

I am writing to compliment the KKCL Organisation for the excellent English course that a group of students
from my school took at their school based in Harrow last February.
The course, transport to and from the airport and accommodation were seen to in every detail, and whatever
small problem cropped up, they were extremely quick to solve it. The school staff were courteous and very
helpful in satisfying all our needs. The teachers’ approach was always encouraging and supportive. The cooks
in the school canteen always tried to do their best to prepare meals that could satisfy the tastes of Italian
students (not so easy to do!).
The afternoon trips to and around London were well-organised, and, above all, tailored to meet the needs and
desires of the students. There was also one of the teachers to guide them around and give explanations.
As for the course itself, my students enjoyed themselves very much. They greatly appreciated the “Go
Create!” method, as they could “play” with the English they had already acquired to create and record
dialogues of their own invention; the activities were adapted to suit each student’s competences and
encouraged them to overcome an initial shyness in speaking.
What is more, the fact that there were also Chinese students in the same classes was a further asset, as the
cultural exchange motivated the students even more to try and make themselves understood in English.
Finally, their attitude to studying English has changed, they no longer see it simply as a school subject, but as
a means of changing their lifestyles. As soon as they got back to Italy, their first request was: “When are we
going to do another course at KKCL?”
On behalf of myself and my school, thank you very much for this great opportunity you have given to our
