For teacher: preparing for the flight to the UK
Group Travel Guide
Meeting at the airport and preparing for the trip
Once again, we remind you that you must have for each child of the group:
- Passport with visa (check the correctness of the dates, passport numbers in the visa)
- Original consent from both parents to leave (check the correctness of the country, dates, names) + consent in English according to the school's form
- An invitation from the school (it is enough to have it on the phone)
- Air ticket (it is enough to have it on the phone)
- Medical insurance (it is enough to have it on the phone)
We recommend that you schedule a meeting at the airport 3 hours before departure - it seems to many that this is early, but every year there are parents who are in
traffic jam / overslept / forgotten at home Consent to leave, etc. Therefore, the accompanying and
the rest of the group is calmer when, 2 hours before departure, everything is already in place and everyone has checked that they have the documents necessary for departure, they have handed over everything that is needed to the accompanying persons.
For some group tickets, online check-in is available on the airline's website, so we recommend checking 24 hours before departure to see if it can be done.
Choosing a seat on the flight is usually an additional service for 300-1500 rubles. If this option is not
is provided, then at the airport registration will need to take place in the general flow.
It is better to do this at once with the whole group, if there are two accompanying persons, then one
we recommend that you go through all the procedures last, when all the children have already passed, and
check that no one has been forgotten.
Usually, parents of children under 12 years old transfer finances to the accompanying persons - we
We recommend that parents at home sign the envelope (name of the child and the exact amount), but do not seal it when the group leader checks that the amount in the envelope is correct and the envelope
legibly signed, pick it up from the parent, tape it up and put it away in a safe place.
We recommend taking with you at least 150-200 pounds for a week of stay, take
it is better to have pounds and part of it in cash, even if the child has a bank card - in the first days there will be no time to exchange currency and search for an ATM.
If the child takes the parent's bank card, the parents must inform the bank about the dates and country of travel, since many banks can block the account when conducting transactions abroad.
A list of recommended things to take with you must be sent to all parents. Also
parents need to be informed about such everyday moments at school as washing, meals, daily routine, living conditions, etc. (all this information is in the school's guidelines for the group leader).
We have issued insurance policies for all children and accompanying persons. Everything with you
it is also necessary to take medications, because over-the-counter medications that are easy for us
cannot be purchased for free sale abroad. If the child accepts
medications on a regular basis, be sure to check so he doesn't forget to do it at the right time.
It is important to remember that in many other countries, different from Russian sockets - in
UK and US will need to purchase adapters.
Preparation of documents
Prepare your group for the trip. Collecting documents is a check of everything necessary for the trip and a detailed acquaintance with the group. The check of the complete set and the presence of all documents at the parents is carried out no later than three days before departure.
Important points before the trip for the accompanying person:
- make a group checklist with contacts of all parents
- check the transfer information at the arrival airport (time, terminal and
- flight, where to call if the taxi is late what is the name of the company / phone
driver) - call all parents without exception or hold a general meeting
- there must be complete information about the school (address, phone numbers, emergency numbers)
After landing, the first thing to do is ask the children to write to their parents or call home. It is important to set aside 5 minutes after getting off the plane for all children to send messages to their parents that everything is ok.
UK passport control
Stick together as a group. When exiting the plane, follow the Passport control signs (Border control, Passport check). Usually two queues - for the British and the allied states and All passports - you are here.
At passport control you will be asked to present your passport and consent for the children in the form of the school in English. Teachers will ask where the group is going, why, how much will be in the UK. Children may also be selectively asked. It is important for border control to check that the child understands where he came, why, with whom.
Check your fingerprints by scanning. Repeat the names of all fingers :) You will be asked: attach the little finger, attach the thumb.
How to find a transfer at the airport
There are two options for a group meeting:
1. The transfer usually waits for you near the exit (immediately after you receive your luggage) with a sign with the name of the school, your last name or Travel Class. If the transfer is late, call the indicated number.
2. Contact Marshall. If the bus is large, then the driver cannot leave the bus to meet you. You exit the terminal and look near the first line where the Marshal's buses pass - usually in a green travel vest. Provide your flight number and transfer booking number and the marshal calls your driver to drive up. Wait 5-10 minutes.
School stay
Inform your parents that the first hours after arrival you may be
unavailable, because usually parents start calling the accompanying person or the child if he does not get in touch for some time.
Smoking and alcohol
1. When trying or buying / selling cigarettes to a child under 18 years old per person
a £ 2,500 fine is imposed.
2. Moreover, the law of 1933 calls on not only police officers, but also city
law enforcement officers (for example, park guards) take away cigarettes from children,
who are clearly under 16 and draw the attention of the police to such children.
Everything that contains tobacco falls under this. Under 13 - electronic are prohibited
cigarettes or vapes. "While vaping is not as physically damaging as smoking, the oils can sometimes contain formaldehyde or heavy metals which are not good for developing lungs, and could contribute to respiratory conditions."
As for electronic cigarettes and vapes, it is not forbidden to sell them to children 13-17 years old, only refueling with nicotine content is banned. And generally in
legislation appeared only information about electronic cigarettes, many
avoid punishment by saying that vaping is completely different. Alcohol in children can
turn to much more serious matters, as many schools immediately send a child home if they find him with alcohol. Also, edged weapons (folding knives) and drugs in any form are prohibited. Ask all children to deposit funds in the safe if the parents gave a lot of cash, or to keep everything on the card.
We inform the school staff about any loss. For every extraordinary occasion
communicate with parents to keep the family informed. Most likely if
there was a loss, the child lost a thing.
In case the child is sick
All children most often have the experience of "sickness", as well as the bag of medicines that they
prepared by the parents, so if you understand that the temperature is low and
throat-snot symptoms, you yourself know what to do. Notify parents.
If everything is serious, we have insurance for this case.
How to work with insurance:
1. We call by phone, which is indicated in the policy.
2. Before explaining the whole situation, you give the insurance number.
3. Explaining the situation. (It can be "insurance", which means that you will be helped, but
may be “uninsured”, which means that treatment costs will not be covered).
4. Describe your case very carefully, as the insurance first seeks
a way to refuse you under the pretext that this is not an insured event. For example,
cases are not insured if the first symptoms of the disease were even before
trips or a child fell off a skateboard, and he did not have a specially purchased
skateboard risk insurance.
5. Next, you are told the address of the hospital closest to you, with which it cooperates.
insurance company, they also book you an appointment. You go.
6. Always ask the insurance company to arrange the appointment itself and you do not need
had to pay at the clinic. It is more convenient for the insurance company to tell you - pay for
reception, and then in Moscow write an application for compensation. In this case
7. How is the money returned? It may be like this: you pay for everything on the spot
clinic, take checks, then take them to the insurance company, when you are already at home, you get
return. The second option - the hospital does not take anything and just scans
insurance. How the refund will take place can also be clarified at
telephone conversation.
Remember that the accompanying person should always find out if the child is okay, as many children may be embarrassed or afraid to say that something is wrong. Do not be afraid to ask again if everything is all right if you see that your child is not behaving as usual.
Have a good trip!
